Let's Move | NYC Summer Initiative,—modeled after First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! national campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of healthy foods, increased exercise and decreased screen time for children—is a collaborative effort of organizations and social ventures in New York City committed to addressing childhood obesity in our region.
Since many lifetime habits are established in childhood, Let's Move Summer Initiative focuses on children and advocates on their behalf by:
1) Identifying and building upon current best practices; 2) Uncovering, analyzing and removing barriers to change; and 3) Developing and establishing a consistent message among healthcare providers, early childcare centers, schools, out of school and community programs, and the food, restaurant and beverage industry about what we should be doing for children now to foster better habits for the future.
Engaging communities with an interest in and a capacity for making a difference, Let's Move NYC Summer Initiative ultimately seeks to better understand childhood obesity, and then tackle it with a unified approach that anyone with a stake in this issue can follow to meet a common goal.
Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady Michelle Obama, dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams.
Combining comprehensive strategies with common sense, Let's Move! is about putting children on the path to a healthy future during their earliest months and years. Giving parents helpful information and fostering environments that support healthy choices. Providing healthier foods in our schools. Ensuring that every family has access to healthy, affordable food. And, helping kids become more physically active.
Everyone has a role to play in reducing childhood obesity, including parents, elected officials from all levels of government, schools, health care professionals, faith-based and public/ private social ventures like UberAcademic and community based programs as UberCamps |Uber

UberAcademic Joins America’s Move to Raise a Healthier Generation of Kids It’s our move.
Our kids need to eat healthier food.
They need to be more active.
We all…parents, teachers, doctors, grocers and businesspeople…need to join together.
We can’t let this generation grow up more likely to get diabetes, cancer or heart disease.
Let’s Move! on this crisis!
Our work! work! work! all-digital-all-the-time world isn’t healthy for us or our kids.
We need ways for the whole family to band together.
Parents are looking for tips and tools.
To help our kids choose good food.
To help them learn that shooting hoops with friends beats shooting aliens with a laser.
Kids were meant to move!
If kids could be coaxed off computers, where would they go?
Is there a park in the neighborhood?
Is there a playground nearby?
Do their schools have enough sports facilities?
Where are they going to get that sixty minutes of activity needed each day?
Kids need places to move!
Our kids need to be eating healthier food.
We need to help our schools and grocery stores offer better options.
More fruit, less sugar. More vegetables, less fat.
More knowledge, fewer empty calories.
More cooperating to solve these problems.
Let’s Move! together!
We believe every kid has the right to a healthy childhood.
We can’t let this be the first generation in our history to grow up less healthy than their parents.
The ingredients…better food + more activity…are clear.
Let’s Move! isn’t just noble, it’s a necessity
It’s not just a slogan, it’s our responsibility
Are you with us? Let’s Move!
"The physical and emotional health of an entire generation and the economic health and security of our nation is at stake."
